Bruce Kulick:BK3 (release date February 2, 2010)
Produced by Jeremy Rubolino
Co-Produced by Bruce Kulick
Twenty Four Records/Rocket Science/60 Cycle Media
Bruce Kulick is poised to release his best work and without any question, one of the best new rock albums of the year. Opening track "Fate" kicks off with Bruce and John Corabi (Motley Crue, Union) teaming once again with powerful rock, riffs, clever lyrics and prowl.
Gene Simmons guests with his vocal appearance on "Ain't Gonna' Die" with his deep, doubled vocals, Brent Fritz's animalistic drumming along with Bruce's leads and are quick and clever.
BK3 is a striking album of well written songs and supreme musicianship. "No Friend of Mine"
sees a 3/4 Union reunion with Kulick, Corabi and Fritz. A nice balance of Corabi's vocals, Bruce's technical skills and Brent's drumming must be played at your volumes highest level. . There is a feeling of elements that remind the listener to Bruce's day's with Kiss. Bruce's classic work from Revenge and Carnival of Souls comes to mind immediately. "Hand Of The King," the lead single, sees Nick Simmons taking the lead singing on this track. The apple does not fall far from the tree as Nick unleashes his deep voice and prowl.
Bruce, always a laid back kind of guy, with his vocals shining in this well crafted, on the softer side of "Final Mile," a well written melodic ballad. Toto's axeman, Steve Lukather trades lead off with Bruce on the instrumental, "Between The Lines," into a blistering frenzy. "Dirty Girl" is well put together power pop, toe tapping song with radio friendly vocals and rich guitars.
Produced by Jeremy Rubolino with Bruce co-producing, have created an album of well produced proportions. Those who have come to appreciate Bruce's playing whether with Kiss, Union or his current gig with Grand Funk Railroad will agree this is set far above and beyond the bar. Masterful playing whether it's melodic ballad to heavy guitars, to pop, to an album full of searing guitar leads BK3, is going to be the "go-to" CD not only for Kiss/Union fans, but infecting an entire rock audience. - Frank Hagan, Kiss Mask Webzine
