PHOTO: Early KISS: 1973

I'd like to wish all of my readers a very happy, healthy, safe and rockin' New Year 2009! We have so much to look forward to as KISS fans this coming year. A new KISS album is coming our way along with a tour of USA and Europe in the Spring and Summer. ACE FREHLEY's new album will be hitting our earwaves (and hopefully a tour!) along with new albums from BRUCE KULICK, TOD HOWARTH and a rockin' tour of Europe from the ERIC SINGER PROJECT!

There will be more GENE SIMMONS FAMILY JEWELS as well as more paintings and gallery showings from our premire frontman/artist PAUL STANLEY! It's going to be a fantastic year to be a KISS fan.

I'd like to thank everyone for their support over the year as we just started the Webzine back in June (after a 20 year anniversary since the first publication of KISS MASK MAGAZINE in 1988) and have become one of the main sources for KISS news, interviews, features, archives, video and photo. Expect a lot more from KISS MASK WEBZINE as we will not only feature archival interviews but new interviews, rare photos and videos. It's only just begun...

THANK YOUS- I'd like to thank: Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley, Peter Criss, Eric Carr & EricCarr.com, Eric Singer, Tommy Thayer, Bruce Kulick, Vinnie Vincent, Bill Aucoin, Tod Howarth, Rafael Moreira, Nate Morton, John Corabi, Chuck Garric, Doc Mcghee, Melissa Madden, Carol Kaye/Kayos Productions, Lydia Criss, Richie Fontana, Gigi Criss, Keith LeRoux & KissOnLine, Matt, Amy & Julia Porter, Anthony Porter & his band Clashing Plaid, Mark Cooper, Fabio "Deuce", Steve Stierwalt/Kiss ArmyWarehouse, Blabbermouth.com, Bravewords.com, MelodicRock.com, Partyman, Kiss777 (Don), Demon (at Kiss USA Message Board),

"ROCK BAND" IGNITES "DETROIT ROCK CITY" DOWNLOAD SALES

Rock bands cashing in on 'Guitar Hero' players
Music video games are selling songs faster than labels
By RYAN NAKASHIMATHE ASSOCIATED PRESS
LOS ANGELES -- "This song is dedicated to Debbie Harry," flinty-eyed Lisa Hsuan purrs into a microphone on the red-lit stage of Hyperion Tavern. It's a cozy dive where patrons drink Coke and beer from bottles and a fading chandelier dangles overhead.

Her tribute is intentionally ludicrous: The 30-year-old veterinarian is about to belt out "Call Me," which Harry -- fronting the group Blondie -- released 28 years ago. Accompanied on fake guitars and drums by three Web programmers who drove in from the refinery-dotted coastal suburb of El Segundo, Hsuan launches in as a smoke machine puffs nearby.

They're playing the video game "Rock Band 2," which along with "Guitar Hero" is rocking bars and living rooms across the country. Many songs' sales have more than doubled after release in one of the games, and well-known bands have started lining up to provide new music direct to the game makers. Now record labels -- noticing what they are missing, and struggling as compact disc sales tumble -- are looking for a bigger piece of the action.

ARCHIVE/BRUCE KULICK Q & A 1989

In a series of KISS MASK Archive Interviews, Mark Cooper sat down with Bruce Kulick in August, which first appeared in the September 11, 1989 issue (#3) of Kiss Mask Magazine. In celebration of Bruce's birthday yesterday, we bring you Bruce Kulick!

What are you doing in most recent days? Do you feel to hit the road again?
I'm writing and recuperating. Writing great songs with Paul, Gene and Adam (Mitchell) and mending my collar bone. It broke in a car accident. I wasn't in one though! A car hit me crossing a street.
(Editor's Note: Bruce broke his collar bone after being hit by a car, over the summer, while in Los Angeles during a break with KISS.)

What do you enjoy/hate most about touring?
...Love playing for our fans. A new city every day.

What are some projects that you would like to do while in KISS? Outside of KISS?
Maybe some session work, writing music and produce some bands.

How long have you known each member of KISS?
Paul the longest... ten years or so. Eric and Gene six years.

What has been the most valuable lesson learned (so far) in KISS?
Go for it and burn! Do what you're great at, the best you can.

Can you sing well? Do you think you'll get a chance to sing (lead) while in KISS?
Not really. My backround singing is a help, but the lead singing stays in the shower!

What KISS songs are you most proud of co-writing?
"King of the Mountian," "Hell Or High Water," "No,No,No."

Whom do you have the best relationship with in KISS?
All members about the same, although Eric and I get to spend a lot of time together.

Do you plan on producing other artists?
Yes. The first group I worked with 'Electric Angels' will be singed to Atlantic Records soon!!

What do you see in KISS' future?
More albums, tours and lots of fun with the guys and our fans.

What was it like to play in MeatLoaf?
We toured for a year. What an extreme personality so I learned a lot.

What are your fondest memories of playing in BlackJack?
Opening for Peter Frampton for thousands of screaming girls!!
-Bruce Kulick

ERIC SINGER INTERVIEW WITH FURY ROCKS

Fury Rocks: In the '80s it seemed that a lot of drummers wanted to be fast and faster like Dave Lombardo (SLAYER), for example. What do you think about it?

Singer: I call it the "Drummer Olympics." It's like who can be the fastest human in the race. I gotta say, there are some amazing drummers nowadays. I think the reason is that nowadays they have much better tools to learn from than when I grew up. At that time we didn't have DVDs, videos, MTV and all these instruction tapes and private lessons. Now you can go and take lessons from some of these drummers by buying their instruction DVDs, using computer programs. Now you have all this best information available to you. These kids have a lot of great learning tools nowadays. I also realized that I never had the ambition to be faster than everybody. That is not important to me. I leave it up to the guys that enjoy it. When I see it, I am blown away by these guys' fantastic technique. I admire what they do but it is not something that I aspire to do.

Fury Rocks: You grew up during the beat generation. In that time, the drums were recorded with only two microphones and the sound was, let's say, slight. Nowadays drummers have much more possibilities. Where do you see further capabilities?

Singer: I was influenced by a lot of '60s music, but probably more by the '70s stuff. I was born 1958 so by the time the early '70s were around, I was a teenager. That's the age when music has the most impact. Well, I think everybody should explore whatever different styles and technologies that they like. For me, I still like the idea of just playing real drums and live in a band. In some bands it works good with backing tracks or loops, you know, especially in bands like those of MADONNA and BEYONCÉ. Something like this would have these really big productions on record and to reproduce it live you almost have to do it. And also they have everything with the lights synchronized with the computers and with the dancers, it is very important to keep in. To me, one of the most important things in rock 'n' roll is the human aspect. You know, playing the instruments and keeping it real and live. The beauty is, sometimes you are not having such a good night and you make mistakes. But the great thing is, when you play the next show you have the chance to make it better or try something different and experiment. And that's the beauty of playing live drums. To me, you can't reinvent the wheel. I mean, a drummer is basically a drummer. The function of a drummer in the band is to hold the beat and to provide the rhythm. A drummer like Terry Bozzio really took drumming to another level and created it more to an individual voice of an instrument, he has done some incredible things like making drums an instrument that is not just only there to keep time. But that's not the kind of drummer I am. I enjoy just playing live in a band and doing my part of creating this chemistry of sound.

MONSTER CIRCUS LAST NIGHT IN VEGAS

BRUCE KULICK filed a report on his website of last night's MONSTER CIRCUS
show at the Las Vegas Hilton-
Monster Circus was formed by Tony Montana (who played bass in Great White but is also a fantastic singer and lead guitarist), Rudy Sarzo (Ozzy, Whitesnake, Quiet Riot and many more) and John Corabi, who needs no introduction for my fans. These three asked Bobby Rock (Nelson, Slaughter, Vinnie Vincent Invasion) to play drums and myself to join them on stage, with Dee Snider (Twisted Sister) and Dave Kushner (Velvet Revolver) as the special guests to play 9 classic hits along with a great show that included fire breathers, pyro, dancers and tight rope style performances in a totally Vegas over-the-top manner. FIRST KISS ALBUM IN TEN YEARS!

KISS MAKING FIRST ALBUM SINCE 1998
(from Billboard.com)
Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.

Kiss has reversed course and decided to hit the studio next year to record its first new album since 1998's "Psycho Circus." Guitarist Paul Stanley will produce.
In recent years, bassist Gene Simmons has been vocal about his lack of enthusiasm about making a new album, which he attributes to the state of the business.
"The record industry is in such a mess," he told Billboard in November 2007. "There is nothing in me that wants to go in there and do new music. How are you going to deliver it? How are you going to get paid for it if people can just get it for free?"

In 2006, Stanley told Billboard making a new Kiss album in the shadow of the band's classic repertoire would be a formidable challenge. "The fact is, [fans] may tolerate the new songs, but it's the old ones you want to hear," he said. "I think Jimmy Page and Robert Plant found that out. The [Rolling] Stones certainly know it. The Who certainly know it. So unless you're willing to go into the studio accepting that how your album will be received will never match your expectations, I'm not sure it's worth the effort."

Stanley admitted complete control would change his mind. "I would consider doing it if I could do it the way I wanted to do it," he explained, adding that his 2006 solo album "Live To Win" confirmed how he'd "like music to sound that I'm a part of. To do another Kiss album, I would not be willing to compromise my point of view perhaps as much as I have in recent years."

It's unknown how Kiss will distribute the album, which will feature original members Stanley and Simmons alongside guitarist Tommy Thayer and drummer Eric Singer.Following its 35th anniversary tour, which primarily played Europe this summer, Kiss is expected to hit North America at some point in 2009.

Below is a link to Paul's interview on San Diego's KUSI TV News while in La Jolla, CA., for his art showing at Wentworth, discussing KISS doing a new album and a tour of the US and Europe-

GENE SIMMONS INTERVIEW WITH THE EDMONTON SUN

GENE SIMMONS the Dictator

By FISH GRIWKOWSKY
Gene Simmons, ever the promotional multitasker. Paid and flown in to E-town to cut the ribbon on a new Future Shop while simultaneously promoting his new Guitar Hero axe, he's also in the city to scout new talent for his record label.
Simmons sees himself as an early prospector of our country's untapped, future musical gold mine, internationally.
Working with Universal, he wants to find bands who posses both that undefinable "it" but also the egoless willingness to let an experienced rocker like him call not just some, but all the important shots.
KISS WILL HIT EDMONTON
In a sit-down interview at the Hotel Mac Friday, he reminisced, threw a proposal to take over the NHL's marketing on the table and confirmed a number of basics. KISS will be touring again this summer and back in Edmonton as soon possible - one of their very first gigs as a band was at the U of A, after all.
Repeatedly referring to himself as someone who sees the big picture, I asked him what he would do if he was president of the United States.
With some shocking and fascinating ideas, the bass legend with the giant tongue did the rest of the talking.
"You couldn't pay me enough. Because a lot of people would try to knock me off. Because I don't give a s---. I have a Schwarzeneggerian point of view. Which is if you have enough money to say, to do ... what you think is right that you're elected for, there are no political repercussions and you don't care. Not about your party, not about anything.

THE TWELVE DAYS OF KISSMAS! BRUCE KULICK'S KKB74!

KISSMAS GIFT IDEA #7! BRUCE KULICK'S KKB74.
In 1974, a twenty year old Bruce Kulick from Jackson Heights, New York, along with drummer Guy Bois and bassist Mike Katz recorded a 8 song tape inspired
by their musical heroes, Cream, Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles and Yes.
The result is a very cool and trippy type collection
of material for your ears that you don't want to miss! Recorded in a professional 8 track studio, Bruce found a TEAC reel-to-reel machine at a garage sale in 2006 and found a Realistic Brand tape box in his closet and was floored
to have found a tape of these recordings that he has now brought to CD. Released in March 2008 with a limited edition run of 1,000 copies with a KKB guitar pick (while supplies last). You can hear a sample and purchase KKB74 at http://www.kulick.net/

NO KISS/QUEEN TOUR NEXT YEAR

It looks as though the rumoured KISS/QUEEN tour for the summer of 2009 will not happen. Austrian newspaper "Osterreich" is reporting that Queen have split with lead singer Paul Rodgers. The band played a show last Saturday in Rio de Janeiro and was the final show. The band appearently sold 12,000 copies in the US of it's last album "The Cosmo Rocks" and did disapointing numbers on Queen's last US jaunt (where ticket prices were among the highest of touring bands. Some ticket prices were as high as $200 for a standard seat in some markets.) and all US tour dates for 2009 have been shelved.

KISS MASK INTERVIEW WITH DEUCE NEWS

Recently, KISS MASK'S Frank Hagan sat down with Italy's Deuce News for a one -on -one interview. Here is the transcript of that interview.
(NEXT KISS MASK ARCHIVE INTERVIEWS: In celebration of their birthdays in the month of December, KISS MASK will present the CATMAN, PETER CRISS and BRUCE KULICK! STARTING NEXT WEEK ON KISS MASK WEBZINE!)

Today I've the pleasure to introduce you my buddy J. Frank Hagan. Frank is currently running a great weblog KISSMASKWEBZINE born in June 2008, but his KISS jobs are really a little bit older.

Hi Frank, let's talk about KISSMASK, the fanzine!.

I started the fanzine in 1988. It was around the time when there were about twenty five KISS fanzines going at one time. So many that KISS gave us all credit on the "Hot In The Shade" album and KISSTORY. I loved doing it because I was in the printing business and one of my jobs was proof-reading as well. I met an enormous amount of people through KISS MASK and made a lot of good friends through that 'zine. It was a very exciting experience. Now through the webzine I meet cool people such as yourself. So, through the band I still continue to make good friends.

You came out with great interviews (I recently translated the one with Eric Carr). Can you tell us your impression about the KISS member you've met?

Although I've met Gene and Paul many times, I've never interviewed neither. Eric Carr was just so cool. I can't say enough things about him. He was very supportive of KISS MASK from the begining. So was Bruce Kulick, always there. Ace was hilarious. My interview with him was a laugh a minute. I'm not so sure he wasn't buzzed when I interviewed him. Peter was also very cool. Very accomodating. I've met both Ace and Peter many times. It's always a treat being around them. One of the most interesting interviews for me was Bill Aucoin. He is very informative and honest. Eddie Kramer is fascinating to say the least I know Bill and Eddie are not KISS members, but they are so important to the history of KISS.

You are also known as Wildwoodkiss75 in some KISS forums, would you like to tell our Italian friends the nice story behind that?

I first saw the KISS in Wildwood, NJ in 1975. I wasn't supposed to see the band. My mom saw KISS on the Mike Douglass Show and forbid me to see them. She didn't know what to make of them. I was actually at the Jersey Shore that summer in nearby Cape May and my brother was going to the show. He got me in and we never told me mom until later when I was older. Ever since that time in Wildwood, I was hooked on KISS. My one brother was into the Doors. My other brother was into Led Zeppelin and I had KISS! I had no idea they were recording the show until later on. I believe they used "Black Diamond" from Wildwood, NJ. So that's where I got my screen name. You are a photographer right?Yes I am. I have not only photographed KISS but also Van Halen, Iron Maiden, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley, among others. I love photographing KISS. They are so animated. They give you great poses. They really know how to work a photo.

Coming back to the web, you know your weblog is one of my daily readings, why did you decide to come back with a fanzine (on line this time)?

Thanks! I read yours too on a daily basis! There is so much activity on the web. I really missed writing about my favorite band. I worked with several fanzines after I folded MASK. With MASK, I just didn't have the time for it anymore. And I still continue to write and photograph for some European websites and 'zines. I missed the creative control and I thought what a great avenue to reach so many more people than on the web.

2009 seems to become a really great year for us diehard KISS fans. What do you think about?

I think KISS is going to have a stellar year in 2009. I think they will do a new album. I think the time is right for new KISS music. I hear all the time that it's not real KISS and yes KISS will always be Gene, Peter, Ace and Paul. The original four will always come to mind. But there are many formations of KISS. Eric has been associated with KISS since 1989. Tommy's been on board for so many years. They are part of the KISS family. And if Gene and Paul want to continue doing the band, they have every right to do so. It's their baby. I think a new album will come. Paul is certainly hinting around about it in the press. The idea of Paul Stanley producing is very appealing to me. The guy reeks of talent. KISS will finally tour the US next year as well as going back to Europe. While they are out there they should go back to Australia and Japan. They draw huge crowds there as well. KISS attracted huge crowds in Europe in '08 as well. I think it's going to be an exciting year for KISS as well as the fans!

Frank, I really thank you, for spending some time here on my DeuceNews, hope to really meet you somewhere, sometime.

Thanx Deuce! You must visit the US when KISS tour. We'll hang for sure!

PAUL STANLEY INTERVIEW WITH ASKMEN.COM

AskMen.com recently conducted an interview with KISS guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.
by Shawn Loeffler

AskMen.com: Can fans look forward to new KISS material in the near future?

Stanley: Actually, it looks like we'll be going in the studio shortly to do the first new KISS album in 10 years. It's going to be very much a vintage, classic, '70s KISS album without much regard to what's happened since then; it's back to the roots.

AskMen.com: Back in the '80s, a decision was made in order to respect the fans that Vinnie [Vincent] and [Eric] Carr would have to wear new face makeup; why was the decision made to allow [Eric] Singer and [Tommy] Thayer to wear the makeup of original members?

Stanley: It wasn't to respect the fans; it was a misstep, if anything. The idea that we should dilute the four icons, which are world-known (not by name, but by character) and come up with like "Frog Man" or "Turtle Boy" was a big misstep. Those iconic figures are known worldwide; you show anybody in the world a photo of KISS and they'll tell you it's KISS. So, it just sold everybody short to think that when somebody left the band that they should take those characters with them. In a sense, we all created each others' characters because it was the four of us together and the synergy between the four of us that made those characters. Could we have done it on our own? I don't think so. It was all of us together that came up with it.

AskMen.com: Is there any truth to the rumors about a "Kiss II" reality show?

Stanley: It's kind of gotten distorted into something that it really isn't. The idea that some guys are going to take our place and we're going to go home is never going to happen. Really, what it was and remains is the idea that Gene and I have created and nurtured something for 35 years… [and] as successful and consistent as we've been kind of makes people wonder what it would be like if we put together another band and gave [them] that experience. It's much closer to that.

GENE SIMMONS OPENS UP ABOUT NEW KISS ALBUM

GENE SIMMONS recently spoke with Canada's Sun Media telling Jane Stevenson plans for a new KISS studio album that PAUL STANLEY will produce. It's expected Kiss will begin recording next year with a summer 2009 release. Kiss will follow with a limited tour.

"We'll do a handful of shows just to keep in the game (next) summer, maybe 10 (dates), some Canadian shows," Simmons told the Sun Media. "I know Halifax is one, but before you get out there and start the baseball season, they hold exhibition games, that's what we're doing. 'Cause once we go out, it's going to be for a year and a half."
As for rumblings of a co-headlining tour with QUEEN, Simmons said, "Oh, I've heard that, but we don't know until it's real. I would be happy to step up on that stage. I'd (also) love to step up on a stage with the STONES."

ERIC CARR ARCHIVE INTERVIEW / PART 4

November 24 will mark the 17th Anniversary of the passing of our beloved ERIC CARR. In a series celebrating his life, KISS MASK will present an Interview with Eric that first appeared in the October/December 1989 (Vol.1/No.4) issue of Kiss Mask. Eric was a strong supporter of Kiss Mask from the very beginning, always sending us notes, doing interviews and making himself available, the most accessible member of Kiss at the time.

Kiss Mask is proud to present his interview in a series of parts for you to enjoy once again. The interview, in article form, was conducted in November of 1989, during Kiss' filming of the "Forever" and "Rise To It" videos. Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Eric Carr.

By J. Frank Hagan

Part four and final installment of our interview with Eric Carr, the FOX discusses redoing "Beth" and the (then) new album, Hot In The Shade.

Although Eric's official lead vocal on a Kiss album is "Hot In The Shade," he first got a taste of singing lead on 1988's greatest hits package, "Smashes, Thrashes & Hits," re-recording the vocals for "Beth." Redoing a Kiss classic had to bring a little hesitation for Eric, "Yeah at first. I was real flattered they offered to ask me to do it. My first reaction was to say 'yes, great, let me do it'. But then I thought about it and I started to worry that people would take offense against me and I certainly didn't want fans being angry with me as though I committed sacrilege or something. It's one of those kind of songs where people that know it are used to hearing it one way. It's like if you re-did 'Stairway to Heaven,' you can get somebody to sing a great job on it, but everyone that's heard that song knows the vocal one way and if you hear anything different it's not gonna' sound good. You're used to hearing Plant sing it that way, people were used to hearing Peter sing 'Beth' that way. I was afraid no matter how good a performance I did, people just wouldn't except it. The reaction, same as when I joined the band, I didn't get all the negative stuff. Maybe fans were being kind and didn't tell me, but I get fan letters all the time. Everyone always told me how great it sounded. I'm very happy the way I sang it. I basically re sang it in a smoother voice." Eric was quick to point out that he recorded in the same studio but the same room Peter recorded it it. "We did it at Record Plant (New York City), the same room he recorded it in. For all I know it could have been the same stool he was on and the same sandwich he was eating," Eric says laughing.

Our conversation shifts back to the new album with Eric explaining he brought a ballad to the sessions he wrote titled, "Somebodys Waiting." I asked Eric how long in took to record "Hot In The Shade," "About two months for the whole thing and a few weeks for mixing. We don't usually take whole lot of time in the studio. We really come in really prepared." With an album so tight, I was interested if the band took extra time for rehearsing for the session work. "Actually no. This was interesting this time because there was supposed to be some rehearsal but as it turned out, we just didn't rehearse. I listened to tapes and got a feel for what Paul and Gene wanted on the songs. We'd get in the studio and as I would go through them, we'd make changes or add stuff or someone would suggest something which is the way we always work.

But at least this time there were a lot more things completed than they usually are. And that's not just us, a lot of bands start recording an album and you may have one or two songs written and writing is going on during the recording. It's real difficult to have all the songs you want, the perfect combination of songs ready at the same time. You gotta' remember new songs come up as you're working. Something you thought was great may not sound so good anymore and somebody may come up with a really cool song. Like 'Little Caesar' came out of nowhere and that worked for the album. If we has locked into the fifteen songs or the fourteen before hand that song may not have made it on there. It was just too good to let go."

QUIET RIOT DRUMMER FRANKIE BANALI REMEMBERS ERIC CARR

Interview by Byron Fogel

Byron Fogle : How did you first meet Eric and do you have any stories you can share with us .

Frankie Banali : I am sorry to say that I only had one opportunity to meet Eric. Between Eric's schedule with KISS and mine with QUIET RIOT and session work, our paths only crossed once. This was at a record release party for Judas Priest.

BF: What is your favorite album from Eric's era with Kiss ? FB: I enjoyed Eric's work on all the KISS releases, particularly the Asylum record. BF: What is your favorite song (or songs) that Eric played on ?

FB: "Tears Are Falling" from Asylum and "I Love It Loud" from Creatures of the night were standout performances from Eric. He always seemed to play just what the KISS songs called for. Great groove and feel on Eric's part, the songs would have easily fallen apart without his controlled execution behind them.

BF: What changes do you feel Eric style brought to the Kiss's music in the 80's and early 90's ? FB: A more mature style of drumming which the band has not had before or since.

BF: Back in the Metal Health era there was a rumor started the Quiet Riot was Kiss without makeup circulating in some magazines, probably having to do with the fact that you and Eric looked very much alike (had the same hair, facial features etc) were you ever mistaken for Eric by anyone besides by his family backstage?

FB: At the party I mentioned before in question number one. It was held at the Queen Mary liner that is permanently docked at the harbor in Long Beach, CA. Eric and I were standing talking about, what else, drums. A young fan walked up to us and asked me for my autograph. I was getting ready to sign it and add QUIET RIOT, when he says "I love your drumming with KISS!" I looked over at Eric and he starts to laugh. I said to the fan, well, you better have the real KISS drummer sign this then! Afterwards Eric say's to me "Earlier tonight I signed two autographs for QUIET RIOT fans before they realized I wasn't you," we both cracked up, talked a little longer, hugged and went our separate ways. In retrospect, It's a shame that I never had the opportunity to spend time with Eric, but I have one memorable meeting to reflect back on. He was a genuinely nice person.

BF: Have you seen Kiss live with Eric, if so what are your thoughts on the drum solos he put together.

FB: Unfortunately no, so I have no basis to form an opinion. But with as talented a drummer as he was, it must have been something to see as well as hear!

BF: Did Eric influence your playing or drum sound at any given time during your career?

FB: No, not really. The style of music that KISS played while Eric was in the band called for a more controlled studio sound than I've always sought out.

BF: Have you seen the Inside Tale of The Fox DVD or heard Rockology (Eric solo record) ?

FB: No, I'd like to!

BF: Eric was known for his love of practical jokes and pranks were you ever part of one of witness to him in action.

FB: As I said before, since we only met once, the practical joke was played on both of us by fans and mistaken identity. I do remember saying to Eric that since he was the Fox in KISS, had I'd been in the band the only animal left for me might have been "Frankie the Dog Face Boy" of KISS. He must have laughed for about ten minutes straight! We got a lot in during our brief meeting.

BF: As a fellow drummer what do you think Eric most contributed to the world of drumming?
FB: He was able to make wonderful drumming contributions while in KISS and at the same time bring a dynamic live flair to the band visually which is no easy thing to do when working with Gene and Paul who are bigger than life. He was always a focal point and never just background dressing. He held his own and stood out admirably. 100% star power.
