KISS Will Play Oslo, Norway Tonight

KISS will headline the 2nd night of the Kollen Summer Festival in Oslo, Norway tonight! The concert will take place at the Holmenkollen National Arena - the roof of Oslo - made world famous by its iconic ski jump that can be seen from all over the capital.

”KISS Saturday on the big stage at Kollen is a dream come true. To really experience a band like KISS you need a stage that justifies the greatness of the band, and Kollen is the only festival in Norway that can provide just that. It’s flat out extremely cool to be able to give Oslo an exclusive concert with the worlds largest rock ’n’ roll circus as the grand finale on the first edition of Kollen ever.” – Pål Jakobsen, head of booking Kollen.

KISS to Unleash A MONSTER in October

Legendary Band’s 20th Studio Album, first single "Hell or Hallelujah" available July 2 Internationally and July 3 in North America

"The music is all hard-edged — they call it "thunderock" — and throughout their electrical storm solid craftsmanship prevails." – Rolling Stone, 1978

"Nice to hear some things never change." Spin, 2009

"We’re a real, flesh-and-blood rock and roll band with people who’ve spent 40 years doing what we believe in." – Paul Stanley, 2012

Rock legends KISS return with Monster, the 20th studio album in their historic career, set for release in October through Universal Music Enterprises. The 12-track, straight-ahead rock 'n' roll album features collaborations among all four members—including co-founders Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons and longtime members guitarist Tommy Thayer and drummer Eric Singer—in an album that shows the band at the top of its game. And that’s saying something, considering their illustrious, 40-plus year history—28 U.S. gold albums, the most gold records for any American rock band, 40 million sales in the U.S., and a total exceeding 100 million worldwide.

KISStory, June 28, 1996: Tiger Stadium

DETROIT, MI.,June 28, 1996: KISS opens their Alive/Worldwide Tour, known as the Reunion tour, at Detroit's Tiger Stadium (Yes, I was there) in front of a sold-out crowd of 43,000. The tour became Kiss' highest grossing tour ever at $143 million dollars, (the highest grossing tour of the year) which had the Kiss playing multiple nights in cities and forcing Kiss to rearrange the already planned tour dates to accomodate such high demand. Three sold-out nights in Philadelphia, which was on the tour scheduled for July, were moved to October, as well as a host of other cities. The entire tour had to be replanned out. Kiss played four sold-out nights at New York's Madison Square Garden ( I was at all four shows) on July 25, 26, 27, 28. This Detroit show (besides the warm-up show in Irvine, CA., earlier in the month) marked the first time Gene, Ace, Peter and Paul toured together since 1979's Dynasty tour.

Is This KISS' MONSTER Artwork?

ImageIs This The MONSTER?

This album cover has been leaked online via Melodic Rock's Twitter account.

We're not 100% sure this is the actual cover. No word from the Kiss camp since it surfaced this morning.

There have been many questionable covers  for MONSTER circling the internet from everything from cartoonish, to a painting to a photo cover.

Gene Simmons recently stated that Kiss decided on a photo of the band for the cover, but I'll believe it when I see it. I'd rather see a painting or artwork rather than the typical photo.
Real or Fake?

We'll see in October!

KISS Finalist F: William R - Indianapolis, IN

I have been a huge KISS fan since I was in High School some 35 years ago. When I served in The Marine Corps in the 1980's, I had to rebuy all of my KISS music because I was unable to take my albums with me. So I had to get cassette tapes to listen to in my squad bay, and then in my two-man rooms when they were finished.

In the past 3 years, I have seen KISS at the Indiana State fair, on 8/9/10, and at Springfield, Ill, on 7/18/2011 and I have tickets for their concert on 9/1/2012 in Noblesville. I have been to the last 2 KISS expos here In Indianapolis, and gotten my picture taken with Eric Singer twice and with Tommy Thayer once this year, and I was able to talk with Tommy because I am originally from the state of Oregon and found out that Tommy has relatives from my hometown.

BAM was honored to record the legendary Paul Stanley of the world renowned rock band KISS yesterday. The singer-guitarist, also known as “The Starchild”, was in concert-ready form to voice a secret KISS project currently in production. During the session Paul not only spoke, but sang, and then had to shout it out loud! It was a rock ‘n roll session to say the least. The amps and speakers in the studio were practically melting during the recording process, but stayed on for the final line of copy “Are you ready to rock!”. BAM’s engineers will be taking a day off to rest their ears. BAM want’s to thank our special client for allowing us to be a part of this amazing project! We can’t wait to see it in action.

KISS: 'LOVE GUN' First Fired 35 Years Ago

Released June 30, 1977

by: Matthew Wilkening/Ultimate Classic Rock

‘Love Gun, ‘ the sixth studio album from KISS, and the clear pinnacle of the band’s first golden era, was released 35 years ago this week.
The album’s release marked a pair of turning points for the band. It was the last record to feature their original lineup — Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Peter Criss and Ace Frehley — performing together on every song.

(In 1998, the foursome released a reunion album entitled ‘Psycho Circus,’ but it is widely reported that outside musicians joined Stanley and Simmons for much of that project.)

‘Love Gun’ was also released at the high-point of the band’s commercial success. KISS were without question the hottest band in the land at the time, with arena shows selling out across the country and mountains of records and merchandise flying off store shelves.

Seeing as how ‘Love Gun’ was their fifth studio LP in just three years — not to mention the near-constant touring the group had been doing since forming in 1973 — it’s hard to say they didn’t work hard to earn that position.

By 1977, they were ready to reap the rewards. As Stanley explains in the band’s official biography ‘Behind the Mask,’ “I had fun making ‘Love Gun’ because I was feeling my oats. I had a very clear vision of what I wanted to do and in some ways what KISS was going to do… I’d give that four and a half, five stars. I’m proud of the record.”

Recorded in just three weeks with production help from the legendary Eddie Kramer, who had worked with the band on their breakthrough 1975 ‘Alive’ double-live concert album, ‘Love Gun”s drum-heavy title song (rat-a-tat-tat, rat-a-tat-tat!) became an instant classic, and has been performed at nearly every KISS concert since its release.

The Man who created the Kiss Army logo

Interview with Vincent DiGerlando

by Nils Brekke Svensson / Kiss

As I wrote in the intro for the the Dennis Woloch interview I have always been fascinated by all the design done for Kiss in the 70′s and 80′s. A time that everything Kiss related seemed to be real quality stuff when It came to design. I have always thought everything was done by Dennis Woloch. But I was wrong. So I must admit I have been wrong all the times I have been asked who made the Kiss Army logo. It wasn’t Dennis Woloch, It was Vincent DiGerlando.
It’s really cool to be able to present a new person in Kisstory. At least for me. The first time I heard about him was when Dennis Woloch mentioned him in the interview I did with him earlier this year. So It’s a pleasure to present Vincent DeGarlando who worked for Howard Marks Advertising as and Art Director.

Q. Please tell us a little about your background before you started working at Howard Marks Advertising.
Donʼt know how far back youʼd like me to go, but in retrospect, art and music have always been a part of my life. I was inspired by an artistic uncle, had an Italian mother that would sing to me, and my brother, and sister, also had an aunt that became a well known opera singer.
I grew up in a neighbourhood where doo wop groups such as the Plurals, and Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons were discovered. Did a lot of drawing, and painting during my early childhood while being encouraged by my grade school art teacher, who suggested that I attend Arts High School of Music and Art. After high school/college I had jobs in small studios, creating ads, working on magazine designs, creating some logos/letterheads, and doing a few illustrations.

Q. Did you know Dennis Woloch before you started at Howard Marks?
I first met and befriended Dennis Woloch in grade school. We both were fairly good artist, accomplished enough to pass the tests to be accepted in to Arts High School in Newark NJ, as well as have exceptional portfolios to get into Pratt Institute, in Brooklyn NY.
We went our separate ways, after college, me getting a job in a graphics studio in NYC. and Dennis working at Howard Marks agency. After the studio I worked for folded, Dennis hired me to work with him as a freelance designer, and I was soon after hired for a position as art director. When Howard was offering me the job, he explained his point of view to me, as having a dream team with “two star quarterbacks”. Although Dennis was a little hesitant about me working on staff for fear it would have a negative affect on our friendship, I did not feel that way myself, and think it turned out well, considering we worked together for over 14 years.

Q. How was a day at the office for you at Howard Marks Advertising? From what I heard It was a pretty special place to work?
I found working at HM very pleasant, in that I could pretty much express my creative ideas with very little interference or direction being necessary. There were times when input was very helpful, and in general we all worked together well. The only pressure might have come when we had deadlines to meet, other then that it was fun working with a good friend like Dennis.
An interesting side observation noted when I first started working there, was that the fridge was always well stocked with beer for the clients of rock and roll, and the staff could indulge too if they wanted. I did have one or two on occasion, when the day for me, needed a different perspective.

Q. What was your first impression/thoughts about Kiss?
I was not into heavy metal, more liking the Beatles, Stones, Bob Dylan, some blues and doo wop sound. So I honestly felt Kiss was not my choice of music and did not think they were going to be as popular as they turned out to be. Gene did mention to me at one time that he thought Kiss was going to be “as big or bigger than the Beatles”. I think in general, “rock and roll” became very diversified, in that so many sounds were listed under that category, taking it away from itʼs original roots and expanding the definition of that genre.

'X Factor': Gene Simmons' daughter Sophie Tweed-Simmons auditions

By /

KISS rocker Gene Simmons spent his Father's Day at an "X Factor" audition - because his 19-year-old daughter Sophie was singing for Simon Cowell, Britney Spears,, at the San Francisco auditions for the reality singing competition show that will air this fall, reports TMZ.

Sources say Sophie told the judges she wants a "fair shot" and that it "isn't about [her] dad. This is about [her] audition."

Simmons reportedly hopped on a private plane after receiving a surprise call from Sophie the night before saying she wasn't coming home for Father's Day because she was trying out for "X Factor." Simmons got there just in time to see Sophie's audition - no word yet as to how she did.

Ex-KISS Guitarist, Vinnie Vincent, Must Forfeit Royalties For Fees: 9th Circ.

Vincent Must Pay Forfeit Royalties to Cover Attorney's Fees

According to Law360 former KISS guitarist Vinnie “Vinnie Vincent” Cusano must fork over royalty payments to the band's frontman Gene “Gene Simmons” Klein to cover attorneys' fees stemming from a lost legal battle against the singer, the Ninth Circuit ruled Thursday, rejecting Cusano's arguments that the payments were protected from garnishment.
The appeals court ruling affirms a California federal court's decisions arising from Cusano's royalty dispute with Klein. In his 1997 complaint, Cusano claimed that KISS wasn’t paying him all the royalties that were due to him for songs.

Vinnie Vincent played on KISS' Creatures Of The Night (1982) and Lick It Up (1983) and is credited on Revenge (1992).

Is Stewie Griffin the New Ace Frehley? Kiss Team With 'Family Guy'

Is Stewie Griffin the New Ace Frehley? Kiss Team With 'Family Guy'

by Kory Grow/SPIN
For a merchandise deal, of course
As part of Kiss's plan for monopolizing all purchasable goods and services in the western world (see their recent mini golf course, Archie comic, and Hello Kitty deal), the Hollywood Reporter says the makeup-wearing hard-rockers are now teaming with Fox to launch a cobranded Family Guy product line. The band — who is releasing its new album, Monster, allegedly in October — has appeared on the show three times so far, having become a part of the characters' infinite backstories when mother Lois talked about dating vocalist-bassist Gene Simmons before he hit it big. Now that will become a part of an even bigger backstory for Kiss, one that has led them to garnering over a billion dollars' worth of merch sales.
"We are focusing more and more on the upper-tier, blue-chip opportunities for prestige partnerships," Kiss singer-guitarist Paul Stanley told the Reporter. "Family Guy’s track record and consistent success with its demographic makes this match-up ideal." Which in Kiss terms translates to another K-word: "Ka-ching!"
Although the deal was announced today, no particular licenses have been set as of yet. So tell us, which Family Guy character should wear which Kiss member's makeup? And don't forget guitarist Vinnie Vincent's short-lived Egyptian Ankh Warrior and now-deceased drummer Eric Carr's look, which predates Family Guy's TV network by a few years, the Fox.

PAUL STANLEY Interview on CNN Newsroom

Paul Stanley was interviewed by CNN's Carol Costello. Paul Stanley says THE TOUR will be "The biggest thing KISS has ever done." Paul Stanley, the iconic lead singer and founder of KISS, cautioned about the need for a “No Fly Zone” over KISS concerts this summer. In an interview on CNN’s Newsroom with Carol Costello this morning, Stanley said the forthcoming “The Tour” will be “spectacular and the biggest thing KISS has ever done” with “incredible pyro, incredible lights” necessitating the need for a ‘No Fly Zone’ over the arenas and amphitheaters where KISS and Motley Crue will be performing. “When fans come to see us (on ‘The Tour’) they will leave pummeled.”

DESTROYER Re-Issue Due Out This Summer

The DESTROYER 35th Anniversary re-issue, originally due out earlier part of 2012, will finally see the light of day this summer. The eagerly KISS fan release will feature re-mixes and unreleased material with the original album cover by Ken Kelly which was rejected by Casablanca Records for being "too violent."

Gene Simmons recently told Ultimate Classic Rock's Mark Wardlaw of the Destroyer re-issue, “coming out shortly, this summer.”

"Its easy to understand why Simmons considers the album “a very pivotal record for us.” It marked an important point in “Kisstory,” with the band learning a new process of making music. Producer Bob Ezrin wanted to take the band back to their roots and have them really focus on the formatics of being a band, telling them “we’re going to learn how to tune our guitars and talk about song structure.”

New KISS Single/MONSTER Book due out July 2

The new KISS single and HUGE MONSTER book will be released July 2, 2012. The new KISS album, follow up to Sonic Boom, and 20th studio release MONSTER will be released in October.

Here is the official statement from Kissonline:

** The hottest band in the world… are back in the UK! **
** With their new album Monster out in October **
** New single to be released July 2nd **
** Monster Book to be launched July 2nd **
** Special show at The Forum in London for Help for Heroes on Independence Day, Wednesday 4th July **

Rock Legends KISS are rolling out into London in July and taking over the UK with not just a single release, but also a book release and an intimate show at London’s Forum on July 4th.

Gene, Paul, Tommy and Eric will be performing to their KISS Army of fans at the celebrated London venue for one night only as a fundraiser for the Help for Heroes charity. All proceeds from the concert will go to the charity.

Ahead of the new KISS album ‘Monster’ (due out in the Autumn), the band will also be releasing a single on 2nd July. Also, KISS are happy to announce that they will further be raising funds for our wounded, sick and injured troops as all proceeds from the single will be donated to Help for Heroes.

Paul Stanley states "The greatest national treasure of any free country is the army that defends it at all cost. Bringing attention to the obligation we all share to those returning heroes has been our mission in the US and now the UK. We pay tribute to those brave men and women and urge everyone to show their thanks with donations".
