Kiss' first full feature film, DETROIT ROCK CITY, opened nation-wide on this day in 1999. Released through New Line Cinema, the film centered on four teenagers in their quest of zany adventures to see Kiss at the famed Cobo Hall in Detroit. The film stars Edward Furlong, Sam Huntington, Giuseppe Andrews, James DeBello, Lin Shaye, Melanie Lynskey and Natasha Lyonne and featured KISS performing at the end of the movie. Adam Rifkin directed the film and was produced by 1970's Kiss photgrapher Barry Levine and Gene Simmons.
The film's soundtrack is one of the finest collections of 1970's rock that rivals another period piece, Dazed and Confused, which also featured Kiss. Both films are available on DVD.
