Gene Simmons: Assault Charges Dropped
(RTTNews) - A Los Angeles County District Attorney has dropped the assault charges pressed against KISS legend Gene Simmons after determining there was insufficient evidence against him. Simmons had been accused of attacking Nathan Marlowe and Cynthia Manzo at a shopping center last year. The couple claimed Simmons assaulted them and took their video camera as they filmed him at The Grove in December. A civil case against Simmons is still pending. Marlowe claims the incident has prevented him from working as a tattoo artist and also from having sex with Manzo. According to reports, the couple is seeking more than $25,000 in damages. Simmons claims he merely shoved the camera in Marlowe's face and that he feared for the safety of his family.

Assault Charges Against Gene Simmons Dropped
TMZ.com
Gene Simmons is no terrorist -- at least according to the L.A. County District Attorney, who just decided not to prosecute the rocker over an alleged violent altercation with two people.
The D.A. issued a report -- obtained by TMZ -- which explains there was not enough evidence to prove Gene choked and then threatened both Nathan Marlowe and his significant other Cynthia Manzo at The Grove shopping center last year. However, Gene isn't out of the woods yet -- according to the docs, Marlowe has also filed a civil lawsuit against Simmons claiming "the stress of the incident has impaired his ability to work in a tattoo parlor and to have sex with Cynthia Manzo."

Kiss & Las Vegas Monster Mini-Golf
A mere six years ago, Christina and Patrick Vitagliano, a seemingly normal couple, sat at their kitchen table and came up with one of the most "frightening" entertainment ideas ever perpetrated on the American people - Monster Mini Golf. Christina wanted the concept to have three important factors: fun for all ages, inexpensive yet profitable and, above all, it had to be cool. So they took the 50-year-old proven concept of miniature golf, moved it indoors and added black lights, sound, special effects, a live DJ, and monsters - from frightfully animated to humorously absurd. Then they did what mini-golf needed - brought it to the 21st century and gave it a good dose of cool.
Now after 6 years and over 25 locations nationwide (and growing), the founders of Monster Mini Golf have decided it is time to kick up their edgy cool concept yet another notch. Along with monsters, black lights, special effects and mini-golf -- it's time to ROCK! When it's time to rock - it's time to call KISS!
The Monster team is currently seeking an on-strip Las Vegas location and is looking to open the first-ever "Monster Mini Golf presents KISS" mini-golf facility in the next 12-18 months. That's right, mini-golf, monsters and KISS. It's going to ROCK so hard it's SCARY.
Live Nation Merchandise is the licensing agent for KISS and was instrumental in brokering this deal.

GLEE Does 'Shout It Out Loud'
Kiss Promices "Hottest" Summer Tour
After nearly four decades of touring and recording, KISS has hundreds of songs to choose from, but bassist Gene Simmons promises a new show.
"Every time we go on tour we add new stuff people have never seen before," he said. "We continue to add more songs to our large repertoire."
Their latest album, Sonic Boom, is "classic KISS without sounding retro," guitarist Paul Stanley said.
"The Hottest Show on Earth" tour will kick off July 23 in Cheyenne, Wyoming, with at least 22 concerts, mostly on weekends through Labor Day.
"We just finished playing the world, doing the biggest tour that we've ever done and we thought we were going to take a break," Stanley said. "All of the sudden we started thinking 'Nah! We're having too much fun.'"
The first time a number of now-legendary bands -- including AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Rush, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest -- played in front of a sold-out stadium crowd was when they opened for KISS.
KISS announced a competition between unsigned bands for a chance open at one of the summer concerts.
"Somebody gave us a chance once," Simmons said. "We're going to be giving new bands a chance."
Simmons, 60, and Stanley, 58, have been with the band since it formed in 1972. Eric Singer first joined as drummer in 1991 and lead guitarist Tommy Thayer was added eight years ago.

Kiss Italian Interview Footage
SONIC BOOM OVER EUROPE GOES SIMFY LIVE!!!
Back stage with KISS recording team
By Fabio "Deuce" Mainardi
Milan, May 18, KISS show n°12 of the Sonic Boom Over Europe Tour. I was heading to the venue with the bitter-sweet feeling this would be the last time I could see them live…I was thinking the same in 1996, though…KISS is immortal as their music and nowadays it’s so cool KISS fans may be collect high quality recordings of each and every show thanks to the massive job carried over by KISS technical partner simfy live (formerly known as Concert Online). The daily planning said I would have met up with the recording team at the Mediolanum Forum to see how all the things are being done and set up in order to let the people have their show on hand in the same time KISS are backstage taking off their greasepaint! Unfortunately due to some technical insider information taped during the interview, the management decided on not having the video published in any way, but I can tell you the guys are doing a tremendous job; it’s even unimaginable how many things should be set up for every show and immediately after packed as fast as possible in order to be shipped to the next venue. Basically the KISS shows are taped on 46 tracks boot including some crowd mikes and all snares toms and pedasl of Eric’s drum kit. The recording is made on a pair of PC in order to be able to switch for one to another in case of default and to be sure to get the recordings done. Cutting tracks and tagging them is done almost live, and even the “special effects” of the guitars moving form channel left to right (during Tommy solo e.g.) are done live thanks to a Video installed in the control room where the guys may follow KISS playing and choose the right timing to fade in and fade out the guitars lines. All concert are ready to be sold up to the 11nd song that normally is 100,000 years at the end of the show while the remening part become downloadable early in the afternoon of the following day, almost incredible to see…amazing to listen, believe me!!For more infos on simfy live products and tour dates listing go to simfyLive.com

Kiss Boomed London
Photos and essay by Arie van Rotterdam
We were on a mission to promote the KISS Radio Special on TNT Radio which will be aired june 4th in Holland celebrating the return of KISS to Europe and Holland June 18th at the Gelredome in Arnhem.
We arrived in London May 11th. At 7pm we attended the KISS Photo Exhibition of Denis O'Regan at the Apple Store (Regent Street). He gave a great presentation on shooting KISS ahead of their upcoming Wembley Shows. He lectured on how he works on the road and even had KISS sign all his photos that same afternoon. For more info: http://www.denis.co.uk/
The next day we've explored the Wembley Stadium and Arena in the afternoon and then our mission began. Taking Down (Roadrunner Records), the Las Vegas band that opened for them got their Love Gun locked and loaded. Their debut album "Time To Burn" was released April 12th in Europe and you can catch them June 12th at the Download Festival. For more info: http://www.takingdown.com/
At 9pm KISS enters the stage with the fantastic opener "Modern Day Delilah" (Sonic Boom) and they really know how to make a grand entrance this time with Gene, Tommy & Paul being lifted over Eric's drumkit.
Despite the fact that the Arena was 75% full KISS did go full force one after the other, no interruption, no time to breathe and was a special show celebrating the birthday of Eric Singer.
Proving it was also from 'The beginning' "Cold Gin", "Let Me Go, Rock 'N Roll" and "Firehouse" followed going full force. And then back to the present with "Say Yeah" (Sonic Boom) and the great performed "Deuce" and the crowd gets really crazy with the flames get hotter and the fireworks louder. "Crazy, Crazy Nights" was brought back to life and turned up the party spirit at the Arena. KISS blast through it like there is no tomorrow. After "Dr. Love" it was Tommy's turn with "Shock Me" which led to great solo spots by Tommy and Eric. Both of them levitated on platforms and shooting rocket launchers and really shows they're part of a winning team. After the final new song "I Am An Animal" (Sonic Boom) Paul introduced the next song "100,000 Years" as "the song we always play because it's good". After his blood spitting bass solo Gene goes up to the rafters with "I Love It Loud" (I must admit I do miss "God Of Thunder"). "Love Gun" blast into the Arena and Paul playing a part of "Whole Lotta Love" by Led Zeppelin. No lectures on politics or enviremental issues this evening it's only about Rock 'N Roll. "Black Diamond" follows with all fans singing along and "Detroit Rock City" finished it off before "the longest encore ever".
"Lick It Up" is the first encore followed by "Shout It Out Loud" and Paul joined the crowd during "I Was Made For Lovin' You". Wembley turned into the church of rock during "God Gave Rock & Roll To You II" and ended the show with a BOOM during "Rock And Roll All Nite".

New Kiss Album: 18 Month Prediction
When asked about a new Kiss album, Paul Stanley said, "I think so.
"We had said before we didn't really see doing an album, but I think at this point, doing so well, so famously, we had such a great time doing it, that when we have some time, which is not in the near future - if I had to make a prediction I'd say 18months - there will be another Kiss album."

Kiss Live at Wembley: Review /Night #2 May 13, 2010
Altsounds.com/by Cristina M.
The Circus is finally in town. The Sonic Circus, that is. Kiss and their stratospheric show hit the UK capital for two Wembley dates that, as expected, turn into a fancy dress gathering. Demons, Starchildren, Spacemen and Catmen of all ages and shapes populate the area, and when I say all ages I totally mean it: gone are the times when my cousins and I used to stick Kiss vinyls on the turntable at family parties as a rebellious statement; gone are the times when Gene’s tongue was symbol of evil and debauchery; tonight I’m surrounded of mums and dads with kids in Kiss make up, so much so, it feels like a Fun Fair with face painting. Kiss a family event? Who would have thought...
Suddenly, I feel the need to re-watch Detroit Rock City. Will have to wait though, as it's time to get in and enjoy the ride. You wanted the best, you got the best - ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the ones and only KISS!

Click the link below to view the Artisian News report on Ace writing a book of his memoirs of his years with Kiss. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3dljbqBYo4
Ace was interviewed (see link to clip above) on the red carpet at the MusiCares Benefit he performed at (with Slash, Cherrie Currie, Chad Smith) May 7 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. The benefit celebrated women in sobriety and recovery dedicated to former First Lady Betty Ford, who struggled with alcoholism before getting sober and created the Betty Ford Recovery Center.
"It's gonna be memoirs, you know," he said."I just turned 59, [so] I think it's about time I start getting the stuff out and writing it down on paper before I forget it.
"It's hard for me to remember a lot of the stuff, so what I've been doing is getting together with people I used to work with, and they usually have better memories of situations than myself. Getting together with old bodyguards... They have the best stories about me... stuff I don't remember."

Wembley Crowd Sings Happy Birthday To Eric
Kiss:Review- Manchester, UK 5/11/10
BACONMUSIC.Com
Following up their all conquering headline performance at the 2008 Download festival, glam rock titans KISS were back on English soil for their first indoor arena tour in the country for 11 years. The KISS machine these days includes guitarist Tommy Thayer and drummer Eric Singer, alongside original members Paul Stanley (guitar and vocals) and Gene Simmons (bass and vocals).
The MEN Arena was packed virtually to capacity tonight, and the excitement amongst the 10,000+ crowd was electrifying, especially as the huge curtain dropped, and KISS bombastically entered the stage to the tune of ‘Modern Day Delilah’. The title of the tour is ‘From the Beginning to the Boom’, and this was reflected in the setlist, with songs spanning the entire 35 year recording career of the band, from 1974’s ‘Kiss’, right up to 2009’s ‘Sonic Boom’.
The setlist was a real crowd pleaser, and seemed to be specifically catering to the UK audience, with the band’s only two UK top 10 hits ‘Crazy, Crazy Nights’ and ‘God Gave Rock ‘n’ Roll To You’ both performed for the first time in donkeys years. Despite the 35 year age gap between some of the songs, the set gelled well together and provided a treat for young and old, with vast age differences between members the crowd in attendance.

Gene Simmons: A Dip In The Gene Pool
Let's KISS and make up at the arena: A dip in the Gene pool
by David Dunn
AS KISS arrive, all flamethrowers blazing tomorrow, don't expect any modesty from the mighty Gene Simmons.
"I love the sound of my own voice," he admits at the start of our face to (make-up-free) face chat in a swanky London hotel.
But for the all the bravado and bombastic stage shows, the KISS bassist and lead singer is a big man with a big heart, not least when it comes to seeing the influx of new young fans in the crowd having caught the KISS bug, thanks partly to their long overdue album Sonic Boom.
"It's the kick of a lifetime and sometimes very emotional on stage," says Gene. "I know this sounds likes a soundbite, and I accept that criticism, but when I'm on stage I have a Jekyll and Hyde kind of thing.
"When I get up on stage it's full-on who I am at that time. I'm sweating like a pig even though I'm not out of breath, you're adrenaline kicks in, your heart's pumping, your chest cavity gets bigger.
"And when I look out into the audience and I see a five year-old kid in KISS make-up on the shoulders of his dad in the same make-up, it really affects me emotionally. I have cried on stage and when theysee it, they cry.
"There's this band-fan connection. There is a KISS nation, a KISS Army."

Ace Frehley Inducts Les Paul To NJ Hall of Fame
Kiss Want To Sign Up Lady Gaga
HARD rock legends Kiss want to make Lady Gaga an honorary fifth member of the band.
The Detroit Rock City hitmakers are proud their flamboyant style and face paint are the inspiration behind the 24-year-old’s make-up.
Gene Simmons, 60, told me: “She’s not Lady Gaga, she’s really Lady Kiss.
“I love the vibe, the big mouth and the big visuals. She’s the most exciting thing to happen since us. She’s a female version of us.”
Kiss believe the key to her success is her connection with fans.

Review:Kiss In Newcastle, UK
When God gave rock and roll to us one of the bands he surely earmarked for blind worship was Kiss.
This moving Sunday service in Newcastle might not have seen the largest congregation ever to grace the city’s cavernous arena but the faith, if not the ticket sales, was strong.
And thanks to a sensational sermon lasting more than two hours those who did choose to pay homage at the church of Kiss were treated to pure rock heaven.
But the sad thing is that it’s doubtful we’ll see the like again – at least on Tyneside. A business like Kiss simply can’t afford to play to half empty venues and the frowns across the faces of the stream of staff emerging from stage right before and during the show said it all.
The empty seats will have been duly noted and the bean counters ordered to calculate the loss. Or at least asked to explain why Newcastle and Sheffield were put on sale long after the original raft of Sonic Boom Over Europe dates were announced. With so many of the region’s die-hard fans already committed to costly trips to Manchester and Glasgow this gig was always going to be a hard sell.

Ace Frehley's 'ANOMALY' Releases in South America
Bravewords.com's Martin Popoff spoke with Ace about Anomaly for a major feature - check it out at this location.
Paul Stanley: "I stayed away from drugs. I saw people around me dying."
PAUL STANLEY: HOW I MADE IT
(from the LA Times)
Background: Born Jan. 20, 1952, as Stanley Bert Eisen in the Bronx, N.Y., to a furniture salesman and a nurse. Formed a short-lived band, Wicked Lester, with fellow New Yorker Gene Simmons in the early 1970s. They dropped that name and formed KISS with Peter Criss and Ace Frehley in January 1973.
Big dreams: As a child, Stanley was shy but felt in his gut that he could be a rock ‘n' roll star. "When I first saw the Beatles on ‘Ed Sullivan,' I was a pudgy, little, unpopular kid. But I had this epiphany that I could do what [the musicians on TV] were doing. To think that when you could count your friends on two fingers, and you're not the kid who's taking home the trophy for best looking, is your innate voice talking."
Early days: KISS struggled early on, but worked to give the impression that it was successful. The band intentionally limited its New York appearances — even though it often had no gigs elsewhere — so fans would think the group was out on tour. The members saved money by setting up their stage equipment themselves, but did so hours early so no concert-goers would see them. For the same reason, they delivered fliers for upcoming engagements in the middle of the night. "There's no substitute for hard work, for lonely hours and sleepless nights," Stanley said.
