A great year for KISS is on it's way:
2011 should shape up to be another great year for KISS fans: A new KISS album has been promised (tentative for a February release), a new world tour (United States, Europe, South America as well as possible stops in Australia, South America, Japan and possibly Russia) and the continuation of the great KISSOLOGY DVD series. A monster box set has also bee reported by GENE SIMMONS for 2011. As first reported here in August 2009, PETER CRISS' new rock album should see the light of day. VINNIE VINCENT will see a new signature guitar to debut at this year's NAMM Convention in Anaheim. Hopefully, we'll see more of ACE FREHLEY this year with a proper tour and can we dream, another album?!



We are working hard to change our format a bit to include KISSTORY articles and photos even when KISS news maybe slow. There will be new changes in reporting and tapping in on parts of KISSTORY throughout the past 37 years that will be of great interest to KISS fans and former members. We will also concentrate on the classic KISS lineup with video, articles, fascinating facts, and exclusive photos. 2011 is looking to be a great year, not only for KISS and KISS fans, but for KISS MASK WEBZINE as well.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 2011 inductees have been announced and once again, KISS is not being honored.
Now, I've never particularly liked the band. But, come on. The boys have sold more than 100 million albums. They're still slapping on the face paint and strapping on the platform boots to do concerts around the world. The band's a legend in its own time. Even the decidedly-unmetal Wilco pays a sort of homage to KISS.
Nothing against this year's honorees (the Alice Cooper band; Neil Diamond; Dr. John; Darlene Love; Tom Waits; Leon Russell; Elektra Records founder Jac Holzman; and Specialty Records founder Art Rupe). They're all deserving.
And as I said last year, there are others who aren't in the Hall that probably should be.
But what about KISS?

Bruce Kulick's Chilean Date Cancelled

Bruce Kulick has issued the following statement:

"I was just notified this morning due to unforeseen circumstances in Chile out of my control, my appearance next week in Santiago has been cancelled. I am very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause my fans, as I really was looking forward to celebrating my birthday with my friends in Chile. I hope to see you all in 2011. Happy and safe holidays to you all!"

Bruce was set to make an appearence in Chile December 11. Bruce 's birthday is December 12.

Gene Simmons is at it again. The legendary KISS performer, who also appeared in Celebrity Apprentice, returns with his reality series Gene Simmons: Family Jewels Sunday, December 5 at 9:00 PM on A&E. The show follows the everyday lives of Gene, his longtime partner Shannon Tweed and their children Nick and Sophie. The show has covered everything from Sophie's Sweet Sixteen to health scares to touring vs. everyday life.



This season takes on a more serious turn as Gene accompanies his mother to the Anne Frank house in Amsterdam. Many people have no idea that his mother was Anne's age when she was in a concentration camp, facing the very same terror that Anne faced herself. Gene and his mom have always been very close, and this special bonding moment will bring their relationship to a whole new level. As the two tour the house, we will learn more about their pasts and their family history. We will get a deeper look into who Gene really is as he faces his past and events that shaped him into the man he is today. He will have to come to terms with these events, but how will they impact his future? Gene will also spend time with a young man from Amsterdam, and I am advising you now to have your tissues ready! This episode will definitely make you cry.

Other fun things to expect this season include appearances by Katy Perry and Kim Kardashian, visits to Vegas, strip clubs, a visit to a sleep doctor and so much more.

Remembering Eric Carr on the 19th Anniversary of his Passing

It's hard to believe it's been 19 years since Eric has passed away. I remember like it was yesterday, hanging out together on the 1990 Hot In The Shade tour, which was Eric's last tour with Kiss before becoming ill in the spring of the following year.

He was one of the coolest guys I think I've ever met in his position, a drummer in rock and rolls most famous band. Anyone that knew him would agree with me, he had the most incredible sense of humor, stammering from the very clean to the dirty, sometimes just telling a story will make you laugh hysterically. Eric's passions and dedication was always Kiss, his music and his fans. He loved his fans unconditionally, and they loved him back, and he knew it.

Eric's first show with Kiss was at the Palladium in New York City, July 25, 1980. His final live performance with Kiss was November 9, 1990 at Madison Square Garden.

Eric is interred in Cedar Hill Cemetery in the Hudson River Valley, New York. Eric's beloved mother Connie Caravello passed away earlier this year and is interred with Eric in the family crypt.

MONTREAL - Despite years of blood-spitting, fire-breathing, and salacious tongue waggling, Gene Simmons is probably not the Antichrist. But the legendary KISS bassist, reality TV star, and marketing mastermind might be channelling Mammon, the demon of wealth, or perhaps whatever Horseman of the Apocalypse rides the most expensive thoroughbred.

At least, that's the impression he seems to playfully cultivate in interviews and his long-running A&E reality show Gene Simmons Family Jewels, as he shrewdly and pragmatically discusses dollars and cents with a devilishly sharp wit, and one eyebrow perpetually arched above impenetrably dark sunglasses.

As a founding member of KISS, one of the biggest-selling bands in rock history, Simmons continues to tour arenas all over the world. But he's in town this weekend for a different reason. At the M for Montreal music showcase, he'll be scouting talent for his new label, Simmons Records, and promoting his first signing, Toronto rockers The Envy, who gave a free show Wednesday night at Cafe Campus.

Partnered with ex-MP Belinda Stronach, Simmons' latest venture is focused exclusively on Canadian bands. "I really believe that the next generation of superstars is going to come out of Canada," he says. "You've got perhaps the biggest marketing entity in the world right next door. You can take advantage of America, but you've got to have the goods."

And those goods can be found right here. "There's plenty of talent (in Canada)," he says, listing off a number of national songwriting treasures and also Nickelback. "What's missing up here ... is not the talent, but the ability to market and sell the talent."

Here’s something you might not know about Greyson Chance, the 13-year-old Oklahoman whose YouTube covers of artists like Lady Gaga are so popular: He’s a big fan of ’70s rockers KISS.
“I actually watched the Glee episode where they did Gaga and KISS,” says Chance, who just stopped by EW’s office. “I was like, ‘Wow, I’m going to start getting into this.’ I bought the KISS biggest hits record on iTunes, and it just started blowing my mind.”

His favorite KISS tunes are the two performed by the Glee cast this May: “Shout It Out Loud” and “Beth,” both originally released in 1976. “I love them because they can get up on stage and they can party so hard with these big rock party songs [like 'Shout It Out Loud'],” he says.
“With their makeup and all, they’re so dramatic. I love theatricality. The way that they can do that and then go into a slow ballad like ‘Beth,’ it’s very inspirational.”
Chance is currently busy recording his debut album for release next spring on Ellen DeGeneres’ eleveneleven record label. Seasoned music industry professionals including Ron Fair and the Matrix are helping him in the studio.

Thirty-five years and millions of fans later, KISS Army members can be found around the world!Terre Haute native Bill Starkey and his friend Jay Evans founded the internationally known KISS Army in 1975 after a local radio station, WVTS refused to play KISS music.

News 10 caught up with Starkey at his home in Speedway, Indiana to talk about the legendary fan group and why November 21, 1975 is a date he'll never forget.

Fans of Gene Simmons Family Jewels will be delighted to know the rocker returns with his reality show to A&E on December 5, 2010. The show features the Kiss bassist and vocalist and his longtime partner Shannon Tweed, as well as the couple’s two children Nick and Sophie Simmons, as they go through life in the spotlight. Gene Simmons Family Jewels returns for its 6th season on December 5, 2010 on A&E and begins at 9:00 p.m., ET. There will be a total of ten episodes for season six.

According to an announcement by A&E, Gene Simmons Family Jewels will return with a one hour special that will delve into Gene Simmons’s personal life and past. Gene (whose real name is Chaim Witz) is forced to face the realities of his mother’s past when he visits the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam. Though the show is known for its ‘rock star’ approach to life, the premiere episode promises to be an open look at the cruelty Gene Simmons mother, Flóra Klein, faced throughout the Holocaust. Gene Simmons mother and his uncle (Larry Klein) were the only members of his family to survive the brutality of the Nazi concentration camps.
Gene Simmons was born in Tirat Carmel, Haifa, Israel and immigrated with his mother to the United States when he was eight years old. The family settled in the Jackson Heights section of Queens, New York.

The premiere episode will be the first time Gene Simmons has gone public with an intimate look at his family’s history and survival of Nazi concentration camps.

Kiss Planning Next Album

A New Kiss Album due in mid-2011

A feature on Kiss drummer Eric Singer reconfirms comments made by singer Paul Stanley, earlier this year, that a new Kiss album is due in “mid-2011.”

In July, Stanley told Rolling Stone that the band plans to go back in to the studio next February and release an album as early as next summer.

Cynthia Martin of Yahoo reported the albums news while checking in with Singer about his work schedule in Kiss.

"Being in Kiss is such a responsibility,” said Eric. “Not so much with the work involved, but with the daily stuff - working on the makeup and the two hours it takes to get ready, and all these shoots and meet-and-greets and interviews before the shows. I mean, it's just really steady work being in this band. It's not like when I'm in another band where I just get to sit backstage in a pair of jeans and a T-shirt and being like, 'Okay, we're playing in 20 minutes,' and just get up and play."

“I get to work with great people who I've learned a lot from and who I've learned the most from,” continued Singer. “I've learned that hard work pays off. You need to have that kind of attitude, because I've seen how hard you can fall. And you need to stay focused. And that's why we're successful. Aside from all the special effects and stuff, the men behind the masks really have the work ethic and a sturdy kind of focus. And if it wasn't there, you and I wouldn't be talking right now."

With their "Hottest Show on Earth" tour completed last month, Kiss is headed back to the studio to create their next musical masterpiece. Due to hit stores mid-2011, and with a tour to follow, their new album is sure to stun and surprise - in true Kiss fashion.

Hello everyone! I just returned from the 3 day Rock N Roll Fantasy Camp in San Francisco, and what a great time I had! My band was really fun to play with since most of them perform already together in bands in the Bay Area, but for the camp they wanted to perform something new besides the tunes from their list.

We decided on Elvis Presley's "Suspicious Minds," which is a bit ambitious, but we all loved the great melody and intensity of the song. Our second song was "Last Time" by the Rolling Stones, an early catchy classic of theirs. Last but not least we learned "Mustang Sally," which has a great groove and singalong background vocals. After our spirited performance at the Fillmore (what an amazing venue!) I jammed with the Counselor band, and it ended with Dickey Betts and his son Duane (a truly gifted young Betts) jamming on some Allman Brothers classics.

I came home exhausted, but very pleased with how the camp changes peoples lives. The joy of music and the common love for playing and performing and how the campers participate and "get inside" the hard work of music, with the reward and joy of making music together at the camp, truly takes our campers to another level of living. I see this at every camp.

I want to thank my band, named "Dubious Conundrum" (crazy I know!), and of course my dear Lisa for helping out on vocals for the Elvis tune. Also the staff at the camp and all my counselor friends, once again, for having an amazing time! And thank you all at The Sheraton Four Points in Emeryville for allowing us to take over the hotel. That felt very rock 'n roll!

He probably wants no part of the red-hot Portland Winterhawks, but rock star Gene Simmons will take the ice and play goalie on Friday when the Hawks face the Saskatoon Blades in Saskatchewan, Canada.
The KISS bassist plans to man the net during an intermission shootout.
"He'll be dressing up in goalie gear from head to toe," says Brittany Loraas, the Blades' manager of game-day operations.
Not sure what that will look like, but during the second intermission Simmons plans to have three people take shots at him.

The official YouTube video channel of American glam legends Kiss has been closed for breaching copyright laws – just weeks after bassist Gene Simmons controversially called for all rights breakers to be sued and jailed.

Visitors to the band’s OfficialKISSonline channel were advised in a YouTube error message: “This channel has been terminated due to multiple or severe violations of our community guidelines, and/or claims of copyright infringement.”

Some Kiss videos embedded on the band website’s front page were replaced with the message: “This video is no longer available because the associated YouTube account has been terminated.” At least one replacement message stated S’more Entertainment had lodged a breach of rights claim against Kiss.

Simmons recently angered online communities by stating: ““Make sure there are no incursions. Sue everybody. Be litigious. Take their homes, their cars. Don’t let anybody cross that line.”

His comments resulted in hacker outfit Anonymous blocking access to his sites GeneSimmons.com and SimmonsRecords.com, after which he said: “Our legal team and the FBI have been on the case and we have found a few, shall we say, ‘adventurous’ young people, who feel they are above the law.

“And, as stated in my recent speech, we will sue their pants off. First they will be punished. Second, they might find their little butts in jail, right next to someone who’s been there for years and is looking for a new girlfriend.

“We will soon be printing their names and pictures. We will find you. You cannot hide.”

However, he later updated the page to say: “We’ve been told by government people to take down our previous post, so they can do what they do best: find out who you are and where you are. Stay tuned.”

Simmons collapsed in an airport foyer two weeks ago, and cited exhaustion and dehydration as the cause. He received medical attention for a wound to his eye.

The event takes place Friday, Jan. 14, from 6-9 p.m. at Casino New Brunswick and tickets are now on sale for $249 each.

Gene Simmons was born in Haifa, Israel in 1949, the only child of his mother, a survivor of a Nazi concentration camp. Mother and son emigrated to New York, where in 1972, Simmons founded legendary face-painted rockers KISS.

Over nearly 40 years, he has turned the band into a marketing machine, with merchandise including comic books, lunch boxes, pinball machines, computer games, wine, clothing and yes, toilet paper and coffins, featuring the faces of KISS's four members.

Snuggling Up To Kiss

In my spare time I really enjoy coaching youth baseball, it combines two of my passions... baseball and working with young people. I look at it as a way of giving back to the community that I call home, and it also allows me to spend more time with my own 8 year old son.

This past weekend was the last game for my New Cumberland Gold (8 and under) fall baseball team. I was blessed with a fun group of players that really wanted to learn and get better. As a token of appreciation for my time spent coaching the team, they presented me with a thoughtful (and practical!) gift.

Those that know me well know that I'm a big fan of the rock group KISS. They were in their prime in the late 1970's just as I was discovering rock music. Their songs combined with their make up and theatrics were the perfect combination for millions of kids in the 70's.. including me.

With that in mind, my team presented me with the perfect gift for a KISS loving weatherman, A KISS SNUGGIE!!! To show my gratitude for what they did for me, I promised to wear it on air.

As you can see from the video, far be it from "Coach Steve" to ever break a promise to his players :)

The first episode captures a highly personal moment for Gene as he is forced to finally face his childhood demons and his mother’s tragic past when visiting the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam.
Gene’s life is an open book, but the one thing he keeps close to the vest is his mother’s harsh survival as a Jewish girl in Europe during WWII. His mother and Anne Frank were approximately the same age when they went into concentration camps and seeing how Anne lived strikes an emotional chord with Gene. Kieran Robertson is just 12-years-old but has played to an audience of 3,400 people in his rock group Juniors Wailing.

Many children idolise Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber, but not so many would name Paul Stanley, the anti-drugs rhythm guitarist of glam-rock super group Kiss, as their hero. Yet this is who 12-year-old Kieran Robertson wants to be.

Kieran's road to rock stardom began at an Iron Maiden concert when he sat atop his dad's shoulders in the centre of a mosh-pit. The band's guitarist pointed right at him and he knew then what his future held. His band, Juniors Wailing, have now played in front of 3,400.

"I got my first ever guitar when I was about five," he told The Hour. "I started playing when I was about seven and at first I was thinking I'll never be able to do this, it was taking for ages, but I had a lot of patience and my dad taught me up until whatever he knew.

"Kiss put on a great show and that’s definitely the thing I'd like to do," said Kieran. "They have fireworks and jump about. Paul Stanley, my idol, doesn't do drugs, doesn't drink, he flies into the audience because he believes the audience and the band should be one, which is also what I think."
